New Agenda Coalition - Background Information

The New Agenda Coalition was launched in Dublin in June 1998, with a Joint Declaration by the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Egypt, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Slovenia, South Africa and Sweden.

Since its launch the New Agenda Coalition has submitted a resolution at the 1998 UN First Committee and made a statement at the 1999 NPT Preparatory Committee meeting.

On 22 September 1999, the Foreign Ministers of the New Agenda Coalition, meeting in New York, issued a Communiqué confirming that a New Agenda Resolution will be submitted in 1999.
